Partners meeting in Poland 19.-23.10.2010
Tuesday 19th of October
- We arrived Zielonka at different times this day – except Italy that arrived on Monday. Malgo had arranged pick ups from the airport for all of us.
Wednesday 20th of October
- Visiting the school: Malgo welcomed and introduced all guests.
- General assembly at school gymnasium where pupils were singing and playing the flutes. They also performed an ecological drama that was prepared by the students. One person from each partner school read a text in their mother tongue so the students could hear the sound of our languages. We also saw a multimedia presentation of Poland, Mazovia region and school nr 3. Students had made some films about Zielonka. We saw some of them. After the performance students had some questions for the guests.The Coordinator Guðrún Soffía told a bit about the project to the students.
- We had a guided tour in the school to see different classrooms, the library, the ICT-room, the cantina, the room for class 0 and all the nice work about the partner countries situated indifferent places where people could see them.
- Project meeting in the IT-room. Partners presenting work done in the different schools up to now. We have to decide how to work on the website. How to design the dictionary? How to use e-Twinning?
Set the dates for the next two meetings:
* Italy: February 8th – 11th.
* Iceland: May 10th – 15th.
- The traditional ceremony of first year students’ admission to school. The theme of the ceremony was the river Vistula. The pupils sang, read poems and told about the river. And they danced a traditional Polish dance. The head teacher then had a ceremony where she told the pupils that they now were students of school nr 3 before everyone got a book.
This was a well prepared and carried out ceremony with proud and excited children. It was really nice to watch them and to experience this kind of happenings.
- Dinner at the hotel with local authorities at the expense of the Mayor of Zielonka.
Thursday 21st of October
- Observing classes: We observed different classes in different subjects to see some teaching
methods and how teaching is in this school. We attended geography lessons, ICT-lessons, a lesson about food and especially products from milk, technique lesson where they used LEGO.
- Project meeting: We discussed and talked about the lessons we had attended and about learning methods we had seen. It was great to see that pupils were active in different ways during a lesson. They always took part in one or another activity in addition to the theory.We discussed the next steps in our project: Activity 4: “Research of energy and renewable energy sources in each country in past and present….”:Each partner will make a line of time to show energy production in their own country from the beginning. The time lines will be of different length because our histories of energy are quite unlike. Study the energy production right now. Visit a power station. People/experts come to school to talk to the students about energy production.
Pupils decide on how to present their work.We share and compare the work with use of ICT: On the web-site we will create, the web-site of each partner school, letters, e-mail.How can we share and compare the timeline and make one where all partner countries are represented? Each partner school comes up with ideas on how to do it.
The dictionary: Before we meet in Italy we will find the words we will use in our dictionary. Then we discuss which we will use when we meet.
How can our students communicate?
All partner schools will sign in again on e-Twinning and we will find out how we can use it. We also discussed SKYPE and MSN but those programmes are not easily available for all schools in the partnership. We think it will be nice for the children to have products they can hold in their hands. Therefore we bring something from our students for every meeting. That could be paintings/drawings, letters, photos, info the students have written about themselves.
When we meet in Italy we all bring a report with pictures from what has been done I our own school since the last meeting.
- Chopin music: In the afternoon we attended an event prepared by the music teacher. Pupils played the flutes, the piano, the guitar and someone was singing. They also presented information about Chopin.
Friday 22nd of October:
- Visitors entered different classes to teach the students:Each country entered different classes and taught different matters.
- Project meeting: The dictionary: We chose the words and phrases we will present in every language of
the project. We first present it in English, then in our mother tongue. Perhaps we all can video type students saying the words so we both can see and hear them?
- Visit in Warsaw: We were taken by mini bus to Warsaw where we saw the library and the
city from the top of the Palace of Culture. We also walked in the Old Town before we had dinner in a restaurant there.
Saturday 23rd of October:
